Exeter City's manager, Noel only assumed defensive duties for a handful of games last season at a time when the Grecians were on a depressing run of games without a victory. A strong and powerful central defender his brief comeback was ended when he tore a thigh muscle in the 'derby' match against Torquay in January. Noel ultimately saw the Devon club to safety and was reported to have been offered a further 12-months contract at St James Park.
