A former Portsmouth trainee, Michael Nelson originally joined Bury from Bishop Auckland on a non-contract basis.
He signed a new contact in the 2002 close season that keeps him at Gigg Lane until June 2004.
However, he moved to Hartlepool United - on the day that Neale Cooper was appointed manager - with a year of his Shakers contract still to run.
Michael joined Norwich City in July 2009 with a two-year contract.
He joined Scunthorpe United in January 2011 with a contract to June 2013.
Michael joined Cambridge United in August 2014 with a one-year contract.
He joined Barnet in August 2015 with a one-year contract that was extended to June 2017 in May 2016 and to June 2018 in June 2017.
