Toni was Serie A's leading scorer in 2005-06 with 31 goals for Fiorentina - the most in Italy's top flight since Antonio Valentin Angelilo hit 33 for Inter Milan in 1958-59.
Toni scored twice as Italy beat Ukraine 3-0 in the quarter-finals of the 2006 World Cup.
