After progressing through the Under-21 ranks, as a young West Ham United midfielder, Joe Cole won his first full cap in the friendly with Mexico at Derby in May 2001.
At that time, he was described by Sven-Goran Eriksson as his 'something special' player and often likened to Paul Gascoigne and his selection for Italia 90.
Joe has the quality to go past opponents and is adding more control and responsibility as his game develops.
Having signed as a professional by the Hammers in 1998, Joe joined Chelsea in August 2003 in a four-year deal for £6.6million.
Joe's contract at Chelsea was extended to June 2010 in June 2006.
With a fantastic volley, Joe scored a World Cup wonder goal in the 2-2 draw with Sweden as England finished top of Group B at Germany 2006.
He joined Liverpool in July 2010 with a four-year contract.
Joe re-joined West Ham United in January 2013 with a contract to June 2014.
He joined Aston Villa in July 2014 with a two-year contract.
After a loan spell, Joe joined Coventry City in January 2016 with a contract to June 2016.
