Although Ian began the 2000-01 campaign as Andy Tillson's partner in the heart of the Walsall defence, he was soon replaced by Tony Barras and was subsequently in and out of the side.
However, he was still a vital member of the Saddlers' promotion squad and always gave 100 per cent when called upon.
A central defender who is effective in the air and firm in the tackle, he was placed on the transfer list during the summer.
Ian signed a new three-year contract with Walsall in May 2004 that was extended to June 2008 in May 2007.
