As a Darlington trainee, Garry burst through onto the first-team scene at the beginning of 2000-01 after scoring freely for the club's reserves in 1999-2000. He made his Football League debut from the subs' bench in the opening game of the campaign and made the starting line-up for the two Worthington Cup ties against Nottingham Forest. He went on to make a handful more appearances as a substitute and also had a spell on loan at Spennymoor United in the New Year. Garry is a strong-running young forward with great enthusiasm for the game.
