Frank van der Geest

van der Geest joined Darlington in the 2000 close season, signing from Dutch club Heracles with Tom Kaak. He made his debut in the home leg of the Worthington Cup tie with Nottingham Forest and also appeared in the second leg at the City Ground. He subsequently played in the next two league matches but after that his only other first-team outings came in the LDV Vans Trophy ties. When an opportunity arose due to the injury to Andy Collett in the new year van der Geest was also injured and unable to take advantage. He is a tall and commanding goalkeeper who, although looking to gain regular first-team football in the 2001-02 campaign, was eventually released by Darlington in January 2002 and returned to Holland.
