Florian Wirtz played for SV Grün-Weiss Brauweiler and 1. FC Köln during his youth career.
His opening goal in Germany's 2-0 win against France in Lyon on 23 March 2024 was timed at seven seconds. It equalled Die Mannschaft's quickest-ever recorded goal in senior international games; also Łukasz Podolski versus Ecuador in May 2013.He joined Liverpool in June 2025 with a five-year contract.
