A tall striker with good ball skills, Darryn scored regularly for Scunthorpe United reserves in 2000-01 but found first-team opportunities limited.
He only started four games and managed just one goal, a last-minute equaliser at home to Macclesfield Town on New Year's Day.
Available for transfer all season, he turned down a loan move to Yeovil Town and permanent switches to Exeter City and Carlisle United fell through before he moved to Conference club Scarborough on loan in March.
Unfortunately he then fractured his cheekbone on his debut against Kingstonian and this brought an end to his season.
Released in the 2001 summer, he signed for Scarborough.
Darryn was made available for transfer by Chester City in January 2005.
He has also played for Gateshead and Gainsborough Trinity.
