Signed by Leicester City in the 2000 close season, Callum replaced Steve Guppy at left wing back.
His presence provided the Foxes' defence with a more solid look but he was injured in the opening game against Aston Villa and then, just as he was beginning to recapture his best form in mid-season, he was affected by back problems.
Nevertheless, he eventually opened his Leicester goal account in the return game at Villa Park in April.
His intermittent injury problems, which also affected his ankle, kept him out of contention for more international honours for much of the campaign although he did win further caps against Latvia and Poland.
Callum joined Preston North End in July 2004 with a three-year contract that was extended to June 2011 in May 2008 but was cancelled in March 2011.
