Alan Browne played for Ringmahon Rangers during his youth career.
He joined Preston North End in January 2014 with a contract to June 2015 that was extended to June 2016 in July 2014, to June 2018 in June 2015, to June 2019 in March 2016 and to June 2020 in July 2017.
Alan joined Sunderland in July 2024 with a three-year contract.
