Comments:

West Bromwich Albion had now won only one of their opening games during their ten seasons in the Premier League. This was the Baggies fifth successive home season opener. Last season, West Bromwich Albion kept ten clean sheets in 18 league games under new manager Tony Pulis.

Comments:

Manchester City had now won their first game of a Premier League season for the fifth year in a row. They had now also won seven successive Premier League matches, their best run in the competition since December 2014. Yaya Toure had now scored four goals in his last three Premier League visits to the Hawthorns. David Silva had now scored in four of his last five appearances against the Baggies. Vincent Kompany scored in his first league appearance of 2015-16; this after failing to score in his 25 top-flight appearances in 2014-15. The Premier League’s Goal Accreditation Panel ruled on the following: - Manchester City’s first goal against West Bromwich Albion on Monday 10th August 2015 was in fact a David Silva goal and has therefore not been credited to Yaya Toure. (Circular 1 – 13th August 2015) Due to the Goal Accreditation Panel ruling, it now meant that David Silva had scored the opening goal of the season for City for the past three years.
