The Baggies had now kept clean sheets in consecutive league games for the first time since June 2020 in the League Championship. They were awarded a second penalty after 75 minutes but Danny Welbeck missed. They became the first team to fail with two penalties in a game in the Premier League since Manchester United at Norwich City on 27 October 2019. The Seagulls had now failed to score more than one goal in any of their last six games in the Premier League.
