Comments:

Final league position 2018-19: 11th José Holebas' red card meant that he would have been suspended for the following week's FA Cup Final against Manchester City. However, his claim for wrongful dismissal was upheld and the red card rescinded. Since their return to the Premier League in 2015-16, Watford had now been shown 16 red cards, more than any other team in the competition. Gerard Deulofeu's goal after 11 seconds became the quickest at the start of the second half in a game in the Premier League since Marko Arnautović for West Ham United at Huddersfield Town on 13 January 2018 (also 11 seconds). Etienne Capoue equalled the record for the most yellow cards in a Premier League season (14). The Hornets had now conceded in each of their last 12 games in the Premier League; the longest current run without a clean sheet in the division. Watford would have finished in the top half of the top division for the first time since 1986-87 if they had won this game.

Comments:

Final league position 2018-19: 10th Mark Noble had now scored 42 goals for West Ham United in the Premier League; only Paolo Di Canio had now scored more (47). Marko Arnautović become the first player to score ten or more goals in consecutive Premier League seasons for the Hammers since Carlton Cole in 2009-10. Manuel Lanzini scored his first goal in the Premier League since the final day of the 2017-18 season against Everton. West Ham United failed in their attempt to win three consecutive games in the Premier League without conceding a goal for the first time since February 2014. José Holebas became the first opponent to be sent-off in a Premier League game against the Hammers since Tottenham Hotspur's Serge Aurier on 23 September 2017.
