Comments:

Abdoulaye Doucouré (two) became the third Watford player to score more than one own goal in the Premier League; also Craig Cathcart (three) and Troy Deeney (two). This was their first time that the Hornets had lost their first game in their last 13 league seasons. They had now failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 16 games in all competitions (conceded 37 goals).

Comments:

This was new manager Graham Potter's first game in charge of Brighton and Hove Albion. This victory equalled the Seagulls' biggest-ever away win in the top division (also 3-0 at Crystal Palace in April 1981 in League Division One and at West Ham United in October 2017 in the Premier League). Neal Maupay became the 13th Frenchman to score on his debut in the Premier League.
