League position: 3rd At the fourth attempt, this was Tottenham Hotspur's first win at Wembley Stadium in the Premier League. Harry Kane had now failed to score in his first four home Premier League games of the season, despite scoring six goals in away game. The only other player to do this was Alan Shearer in 1993-94. Spurs had now kept four clean sheets in their last five Premier League games after keeping only one in the seven preceding games. Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino said: “The team played well. It was difficult to find the space. We had a lot of time on the ball but could not break down the opponent. In the second-half we found better positions and moved the ball quickly, it was much better. We are always suffering if you don’t score the second goal. It was good, not great, but enough to win the three points. I am delighted we have won but it is impossible to stop you asking me about Wembley!”

League position: 19th AFC Bournemouth's only previous visit to Wembley Stadium was a 2-1 golden goal defeat to Grimsby Town in the Auto Windscreens Shield Final on 19 April 1998 when current manager Eddie Howe played in the entire game. The Cherries had now kept only one clean sheet in their last 11 games in the Premier League. They had now lost their opening four away games of a league season for the first time since 1994-95 in League Division 2. AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe said: "It was a really tight game for long periods. I felt the gameplan delivered what we wanted to deliver, which was to congest the centre of the pitch to make it difficult for them to find clear gaps. The one moment they were able to get through the middle of us was the goal and apart from that we created chances as well. There are positives to take."
