Comments:

League position: 9th Southampton had now lost two of their last seven Premier League games (won four). The Saints had yet to win against any of the current top six in this Premier League season in eight attempts (lost six). They failed to score for the second time in their last ten Premier League games. Southampton manager Claude Puel said: "It's a disappointment because we can do better, we can create better opportunities. We did not have enough, we were not sufficient. It was not a good day for us, but congratulations to Manchester City."

Comments:

League position: 3rd Manchester City had now won 11 away league games so far in this season. Their club record is 12 away wins in League Division 1 in 2001-02 (played 23). Vincent Kompany scored for the first time since 16 August 2015 in City's 3-0 win in the Premier League against Chelsea. Sergio Agüero had now scored 11 goals in his last 11 games in all competitions and in each of his last 12 Premier League appearances in the month of April. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said: "Our performance away in that league was amazing this season. We dropped too many points at home. Look how strong Chelsea and Tottenham are at home. If you want to win the Premier League, you have to win at home to Middlesbrough and Southampton."
