The Saints had yet to win against any of the current top six in this Premier League season in eight attempts (lost six). They failed to score for the second time in their last ten Premier League games. Southampton manager Claude Puel said: "It's a disappointment because we can do better, we can create better opportunities. We did not have enough, we were not sufficient. It was not a good day for us, but congratulations to Manchester City."
