Comments:

Due to this heavy defeat, Slovakia were eliminated from Euro 2020 as they could not now finish as one of the best third-placed teams. This was their heaviest defeat since a 5-0 loss against Poland in a UEFA Europan Chamionship finals in June 1995. Eight own goals had now been conceded at Euro 2020; more than the combined total in the UEFA Championship finals in 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016 (seven).

Comments:

Spain finished as runners-up in Group E behind Sweden. Spain had now scored five goals in a game at the UEFA European Championship finals for the first time (played 43) and equalled the biggest-ever winning margin in a game at the Euro finals. Spain were awarded a penalty after ten minutes for a foul following a VAR review. Alvaro Morata's spot-kick was saved. They had now failed to convert both of their penalties so far at Euro 2020; excluding shoot-outs, the first team to fail to score two or more penalties in a UEFA European Championship finals since Netherlands in 2000.
