The Canaries had now equalled their club record of seven consecutive defeats in the Premier League set in May 1995. He became the first player to score four goals in a top division game for the Hammers since David Cross against Tottenham Hotspur on 2 September 1981 in League Division One. This was West Ham United's biggest away win in the Premier League since a 5-0 victory at Derby County on 10 November 2007. They had failed to win any of their preceding eight away games in the Premier League (lost seven, conceded 17 goals).
