They scored four or more goals in their opening game of a league season for the first time since a 4-0 win against Birmingham City at Upton Park in League Division One in 1983. With his 47th goal, Michail Antonio became the Hammers' joint-leading goalscorer in the Premier League along with Paolo Di Canio. Aaron Cresswell's goal was initially disallowed for offside but the decision was subsequently overturned following a VAR review.
