Final league position 2018-19: 18th Nathaniel Mendez-Laing became only the second player from a newly-promoted team to score two goals at Old Trafford in the Premier League after Louis Saha for Fulham in August 2001. Cardiff City became the first newly-promoted team to win at Manchester United by a margin of two or more goals since Nottingham Forest in League Division One in December 1977 (4-0). This was the fourth time in this season that City had led at half-time in the Premier League. The Bluebirds had lost nine of their 11 preceding games in the Premier League and lost a club record 24 games in a top division season. This was City's first win in their 24 games against the big six opponents (lost 21). They had lost the last 19 in a row.
