Comments:

League position: 1st Manchester City became the first team to score five or more goals in three consecutive games in the top division in the same season since Blackburn Rovers in 1958-59. City had now scored 21 goals in their six games so far in this Premier League season. They had now lost only one of their last 25 home games in the Premier League (won 15). Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said: "The first-half we had problems as the ball must be moved and we didn't move it. We had it but the ball needed to stay as little as possible in our feet before being moved. Too many touches and everything was slow. But the last 10-15 minutes of the half we got it. The second-half was much, much better. Sané's goal was so important. His first touch for the goal was brilliant. He runs in behind amazingly. Always the right tempo and moment. We have less points than last season now but I think we have more goals, conceded less and the feeling I think is a little bit better. But it's just September."

League position: 20th Crystal Palace became the first side in English league history to lose their first six games of the season without scoring. Only Burnley in 1997-98 (League Division 2) and Halifax Town in 1990-91 (League Division Four) had previously failed to score in their opening six games of a league season. The last time that a team lost their opening six games of a top division season and went on to avoid relegation was Leicester City in 1983-84. Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson said: "We wanted at least to repeat what we had done in the first-half, where we had matched them or kept them certainly at bay for 44 minutes and on the counter attack we had created some good moments of our own. When that doesn't happen in the second-half you've got to be very disappointed. We've got to accept that we've been given a headache and now during the course of the week we've got to try to find the aspirins which will ease the headache and keep working on the things that we are trying to work on."
