Comments:

Three days after beating Rotherham United 7-0 in the FA Cup, Manchester City became the first senior English team to score seven or more goals in consecutive games since Leeds United in October 1967 (9-0 at Spora Luxembourg in the Fairs Cup then 7-0 versus Chelsea in League Division One). This was City's biggest win since a 10-1 victory against Huddersfield Town in League Division Two on 7 November 1987.

Comments:

In their first-ever appearance in a major cup semi-final, this was the heaviest defeat in the League Cup since Fulham lost 10-0 at Liverpool in a 2nd round, 1st leg tie on 23 September 1986. Burton Albion's club record defeat remained as 10-0 against Barnet in Southern League Premier Division on 7 February 1970.
