The Reds trailed at half-time after taking the lead in a Premier League game at Anfield for the first time since the visit of Birmingham City on 9 November 2009, a game that also ended in a 2-2 draw. With 31 points from their 15 games, Liverpool now had eight more points than at the same stage in the previous season.
