Comments:

League position: 3rd Liverpool equalled their club record of keeping nine consecutive clean sheets in home games in the top division; also from November 2006 to February 2007. The Reds were now unbeaten in their last 25 home games in the Premier League; the best such run in the division. They were now without a win in their last four games in all competitions (lost two).

League position: 1st Manchester City failed to score in an away game for the first time since their 3-0 defeat at Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League Quarter-final on 4 April 2018. City had now lost one of their last 26 away games in the Premier League (won 20) which was the 4-3 defeat at Liverpool on 14 January 2018. Riyad Mahrez missed a penalty in the 86th minute. He had now failed to convert five of his last eight penalties.
