Comments:

League position: 12th Liverpool had now failed to win in their first two games of a season in the Premier League for the first time since 2012-13. The Reds had now conceded the opening goal in six consecutive games in the Premier League for the first time since August 1997. Andy Robertson was the only Liverpool player to be shown a red card in the Premier League in the whole of previous season. He was also dismissed by referee Paul Tierney (at Tottenham Hotspur on 19 December 2021).

Comments:

League position: 16th Crystal Palace avoided losing both of their opening two games of a season in the Premier League for the first time since 2017-18. Palace also remained unbeaten in all five games they played in the Premier League on a Monday in the previous season (won one). The Eagles had now won one of their last five games in the Premier League (lost two).
