Comments:

League position: 18th Hull City had now won all four games played at KCOM Stadium under new manager Marco Silva in all competitions. This was the first clean sheet that the Tigers had kept in a home game in this Premier League season (played 12). New signings Kamil Grosicki and Alfred N'Diaye became the 1,000th and 1,001st players to appear for City in league games. In what would have been his 500th club career appearance, Michael Dawson was originally named in the starting line-up before suffering an injury in the pre-match warm-up. Andrea Ranocchia was promoted to the starting XI with Adama Diomandé taking his place on the bench.

Comments:

League position: 4th Liverpool had now failed to win any of their first five league games of a year for first time since 1954 in League Division One when they went on to be relegated. The Reds had now dropped 12 points in their last five Premier League games after dropping only nine points in their preceding 16 games. They had now won only one of their last ten games in all competitions (lost five).
