Goals from Olivier Giroud, Paul Pogba, Dimitri Payet and Antoine Griezmann meant hosts France became the first team to score four goals in one half of a game at the European Championship finals. Beaten but unbowed, Iceland - the smallest country ever to compete in a major tournament - left the stage with pride intact as they could claim the moral victory of winning the second-half. Iceland's two goals after the break from Kolbeinn Sigthorsson and Birkir Bjarnason drew a single Giroud response. For France, this emphatic victory was a tremendous morale booster ahead of a semi-final meeting with Germany. They were now unbeaten in the 17 games they had played in France in major tournaments since 1960. This was also their 50th win in 81 games at the Stade De France, the venue for the Final in one week's time.
