Assistant referees: Mark Borsch (Germany) Stefan Lupp (Germany) Fourth official: Matej Jug (Slovenia) Additional assistant referees: Bastian Dankert (Germany) Marco Fritz (Germany) Reserve assistant referee: Robert Vukan (Slovenia) Man of the Match: Kyle Walker (England) In the first-ever meeting of the old rivals in a major tournament, the game in Lens was played amid a tremendous atmosphere. England enjoyed the best of an increasingly lively first half until Wales talisman Gareth Bale stepped up to take a free-kick, carelessly given away by captain Wayne Rooney. Keeper Joe Hart should have saved but didn't, and Wales went into the break with the first goal they had scored against England since 1984. England manager Roy Hodgson responded by bringing on substitutes Jamie Vardy and Daniel Sturridge at half-time. On 56 minutes, Vardy was in the right place at the right time as Ashley Williams headed towards his own goal. The Leicester City marksman spun and put the ball into the back of the Welsh net to level the scores. Having been denied victory in their first game at Euro 2016 by a last-gasp Russian equaliser, the boot was on the other foot this time as Sturridge struck a dramatic winner in the first minute of added time. It ended England's run of their last five games at a major tournament without a win and, amazingly, was the first time they had ever won a game at major tournament after trailing at half-time.
