Kick-off: 9.00pm local (8.00pm BST) Despite being the only country to win all ten of their Euro 2016 qualifiers, England remained without a win in their opening game in their nine European Championship finals as they were thwarted by a Russian injury time equaliser. After a bright start, England had their first shot on target in the 7th minute when keeper Igor Akinfeev turned Adam Lallana's close range shot over the bar. The Three Lions' positive approach ignited an energetic, enterprising display and the failure to turn the first-half attacking onslaught into the reward it deserved was due to some weak finishing and dogged Russian defending. Russia wrestled back some control after the break as England appeared to be running out of steam. Their frustration grew when Akinfeev pulled off a save of the highest quaility after 70 minutes from Wayne Rooney but, three minutes later, the deadlock was finally broken with Eric Dier's magnificent free-kick from inside the D. It wasn't to be enough though as Russia grasped a last-gasp leveller when, in the second minute of three minutes of added time, captain Vassili Berezutskiy leapt high at the far post to send a looping header beyond keeper Joe Hart. It was the fifth time in a row that England had taken the lead in their opening game of a European Championships finals but failed to convert it in to a victory.
