Comments:

This was England's first-ever win in the knockout stages at the UEFA European Championship finals within 90 minutes (played seven). This was the second time that the Three Lions had now kept clean sheets in their first four games of a major tournament; also when winning the FIFA World Cup in 1966. Raheem Stirling became the second player to score England's first three goals at a major tournament after Gary Lineker at the FIFA World Cup finals in 1986.

Comments:

This was Germany's first-ever defeat in a Round of 16 tie at a major tournament (played ten). They had now lost five of their last eight games at major tournaments (won two). This was manager Joachim Löw's 197th and last game in charge of Germany (won 124, lost 33).
