League position: 1st This result ended Manchester City's record-breaking run of 18 consecutive league wins in English senior football. The Citizens failed in their attempt to equal the longest league winning run by a team in the top five European leagues (19 by Pep Guardiola's Bayern München in the Bundesliga in 2013-14). They failed to score in a game in all competitions for the first time since their goalless draw against Manchester United in the Premier League on 27 April 2017. Having used their three substitutes, Manchester City were reduced to ten men in added time at the end of the game when Kevin De Bruyne was stretchered off due to injury.
