Comments:

League position: 4th Chelsea remained unbeaten in their nine home games so far in this Premier League season (won six). The Blues remained unbeaten at Stamford Bridge in league games against the reigning Premier League champions since losing to Manchester United in 2002 (played 12, won six). Eden Hazard had now failed to score in his last 12 appearances for club and country. Maurizio Sarri had not now lost two consecutive league games as a manager since October 2016 when in charge of Napoli in Italy’s Serie A (against Atalanta and AS Roma).

Comments:

League position: 2nd This was Manchester City's first defeat in their last 22 games in the Premier League since losing against Manchester United on 7 April 2018 (won 18). City had won their preceding seven games in the Premier League. If they had avoided defeat in this game, the Citizens would have equalled their club record of 15 consecutive away games in the top division without defeat. City also failed in their attempt to become the first club based outside of London to win on seven consecutive top division visits to the capital. They had equalled the record of six in a row set by Portsmouth from December 1950 to December 1951. This was the first time that City were behind at half-time in a Premier League game since 3 December 2017 against West Ham United. They had now recovered to win only one of the last 98 away games in the Premier League when they were losing at half-time (lost 85). Pep Guardiola had now lost three league games against Chelsea as a manager; more often than against any other opposition.
