Comments:

League position: 17th This was Cardiff City's 100th home defeat in the top division. This was the third time that City had conceded five or more goals in a home game in this Premier League season and all three on the 22nd day of a month (also 0-5 versus Manchester City on 22 September 2018 and 1-5 versus Manchester United on 22 December 2018). They had now conceded 28 goals in their home games so far in this Premier League season; more than any other team. The Bluebirds failed in their attempts to win three consecutive games in the top division for the first time since February 1961 and keep clean sheets in three consecutive home games in the top division for the first time since 1953. 16 of their last 19 goals in the Premier League had now been scored in the second-half.

Comments:

League position: 7th Watford scored five goals or more goals in a game in the top division for the first time since a 5-1 win against Leicester City on 22 November 1986 in League Division One. This was their biggest win since a 7-2 victory against Blackpool in League Championship on 24 January 2015 when Odion Ighalo scored their most recent hat-trick. They had now lost one of their last 11 games in all competitions (won six). With Watford's first hat-trick in the top division since Mark Falco against Aston Villa on 18 October 1986, Gerard Deulofeu became the third player to score a hat-trick on a Friday in the Premier League after Bradford City’s Dean Windass and Arsenal’s Thierry Henry (twice). They became the 33rd club to concede 200 goals in their away games in the Premier League (played 109, scored 90). Abdoulaye Doucoure had been selected in the starting line-up in all of the Hornets' 11 wins so far in this Premier League season.
