Comments:

This was Middlesbrough's first major trophy in their 128-year history. Joseph-Desire Job's opening goal was timed at one minute and 45 seconds to become the quickest goal in a Football League Cup Final since it became a 'one-off' game in 1967. The previous holder was Stoke City's Terry Conroy against Chelsea after five minutes of the 1972 Final. It led to Stoke's first trophy success in 109 years.
