This was Bury's heaviest defeat in the FA Cup since a 0-6 loss at Leeds United on 22 January 1966. Peter Lorimer scored a hat-trick for Don Revie's team in their 3rd round success. Having also lost their last seven League One games, manager David Flitcroft was sacked two days after this game.
