FIFA Confederations Cup, 2009

After a four year interval, the 2009 Confederations Cup was hosted by South Africa. The stadiums which were to host Africa's first World Cup were in the spotlight.

The two favourites going into the tournament were Dunga's Brazil and European Champions Spain. In Spain's first game Fernando Torres scored an 11-minutes hat-trick.

The tournament saw some notable upsets. Egypt beat Italy during the group stage and USA shocked Spain in the semi-final.

Hosts South Africa made it to the semis only to be beaten by Brazil. Despite going 2 - 0 down in the final against USA, Brazil produced an impressive comeback. Lucio's winner sealed a 3 - 2 victory and a record third title for Brazil.
