FIFA Confederations Cup, 2005

In 2005 the Confederations Cup was again hosted by the upcoming World Cup hosts Germany. The tournament was well attended with many sold out matches.

Brazil, unlike on previous occasions, took a full strength team to the tournament. The squad included Ronaldinho at the peak of his powers and player of the tournament Adriano. In a classic semi final they defeated Germany 3 - 2.

This set up an all South American final against Argentina who had beaten Mexico on penalties in the previous round. It was to be a repeat of the Copa America final the previous year.

The Brazilians proved to be too much for their rivals in the final. The 4 - 1 victory included special strikes from Kaka and Adriano.
