FIFA Confederations Cup, 1999

1999 was the first year the Confederations Cup was to be held outside of Saudi Arabia. Mexico hosted the tournament. The Azteca stadium was creating a hostile atmosphere for Mexico's opponents. In the semi final against USA, the hosts progressed despite an outstanding performance from goalkeeper Kasey Keller. Brazil defeated Saudi Arabia comfortably in the other semi. A teenaged Ronaldinho was the shining light for the Brazilians. Mexico won a thrilling final 4 - 3. Cuauhtémoc Blanco sealed the victory with his side's fourth goal and his sixth goal of the tournament.
