AFC Asian Cup qualification 2019
The qualification procedure for the AFC Asian Cup 2019 final tournament consisted of four rounds.
1st qualifying round and 2nd qualifying round
The first two rounds were also part of the qualification procedure for Asian nations in the FIFA World Cup 2018 finals in Russia.
The 1st qualifying round was played from 12 - 23 March 2015.
12 nations competed in six ties played over two legs. The six winners advanced to the 2nd qualifying round.
The 2nd qualifying round was played from 24 May 2015 to 29 March 2016.
A total of 40 nations were divided into eight groups of five, and played home and away on a round-robin basis.
The eight group winners and the four best runners-up advanced to the 3rd round of FIFA World Cup qualification as well as qualifying for the 3rd qualifying round for the 2019 AFC Asian Cup finals.
