1929 Everton signed inside-forward Cyril Webber. When contracts were cancelled ten years later due to the outbreak of the Second War he was still at Goodison Park but had never played in their League side.
1934 When Bernard Oxby joined Sheffield Wednesday from Sheffield United it signalled the end of a 35 year agreement not to transfer players between the two local rivals.
1935 Allan Duckworth made his only Football League appearance when he played for Accrington Stanley against Barrow. He scored after four minutes and was carried off after twenty with a knee injury which ended his career.
1949 The plane flying Italian League Champions Torino home from a match in Lisbon crashed at Superga just outside Turin. The death toll of 28 included the club manager, coach, trainer, the first team including eight internationals and all the reserves. Among the dead was Mazzola who captained Italy against England in May 1948. He was also the father of Italy's centre-forward in the 1966 World Cup Finals.
1987 Dale Anderson (16 years, 254 days) became the youngest player to play for Darlington.
