Position | Defender |
An uncompromising central defender, he has recently come back into the international fold after a two-year gap. He began his career at SKA Rostov in 1989 and spent two seasons at Rostselmash before joining Dinamo Moscow in 1993. He made his international debut in 1994 and was a member of the 1996 European Championship Finals squad. He joined current club Moscow Spartak in 1999 but has found himself pushed from his favourite position in the centre to play at left back. He has collected a record number of cautions in the Russian league, which could count against him here, and it will not be a surprise if he plays in his club position left back.
