A solid performer on the right hand side of defence or in midfield, Willy began his career at Saint Etienne where he was a product of the youth system. He moved to Monaco for the 1997-98 season and then joined Bixente Lizarazu at Bayern Munich in the summer of 2000.
Willy made his international debut in November 2000 against Turkey.
