Jacobs had a difficult time with injuries at Bradford City in 2000-01 spending three months of the campaign on the sidelines, firstly with an ankle ligament injury suffered in an Inter Toto Cup match and then undergoing an operation for a double hernia.

As befits the club's longest-serving player, he bounced back each time and fought his way into the team again.

A left-sided player who is equally at home at full back or in a midfield role, he is strong in the tackle and has good distribution.

Jacobs is a great servant of the Valley Parade club and readily offers his services as a speaker at supporters' meetings.

Jacobs signed a new three-year contract with Bradford City in August 2002.
