Along with Tony Pennock, the other half of their close season raid on Conference rivals Yeovil Town entered the history books when he scored Rushden & Diamond's goal as the won their first-ever game in the Football League by a 1-0 margin at York City. Warren had previously played at Northwood, Cambridge United, Bashley, Millwall, Northampton Town (where he was a colleague of fellow Diamond, Roy Warburton) and Ards. In six seasons at Yeovil, he netted 141 goals. Warren has retained his signwriting business in Watford.
