Although he had the World Cup experience of being a squad member in France 98, Vladimir Vasilj was Croatia's third choice keeper in Japan and South Korea. He had been in tremendous club form for the past two seasons as NZ Zagreb battled towards the Croatia League title. He started his career with Hrvatski Dragovoljac.
