This tall striker was a member of Nigeria's squad for the Sydney Olympics, scoring three times in four games. He made his full international debut in an African Nations' Cup qualifier against Zambia in January 2001 when he netted the Super Eagles' winner and went on to score twice in the vital 3-0 World Cup qualifying victory over Sudan later the same month. He has since featured regularly in the national squad and netted further goals against Liberia and Ghana to help his country win through to the World Cup finals. At club level he was discovered playing for local club Nitel Lagos and after spells with Marseille, Toulon and Hansa Rostock he joined Schalke 04 in the 2001 close season.
