After breaking into the Torquay United first team early in 2000-01 and playing five consecutive matches, this strong young centre back was invited up to Celtic for a trial which developed into a six month loan. He featured in the U18s and U21s and the Bhoys were sufficiently impressed to wish to keep him but were not prepared to pay the asking price. As a result Troy returned to Plainmoor to find his route to the first team blocked by Jimmy Aggrey and Lee Russell.
Troy was released by Torquay in January 2003.
