Benjamin joined Leicester City during the 2000 close season and was considered to be an investment for the future by new boss Peter Taylor.
He spent much of the 2000-01 campaign on the subs' bench but always looked prepared to put himself about whenever he was given the chance.
He scored his first Premiership goal in the 3-0 win at Middlesbrough in November, and after missing out for England Under-21s in Italy when he was in the squad for the abandoned fixture, he won his first cap in the end-of-season friendly against Mexico.
A promising young striker, he benefited from his limited taste of Premiership football.
After a loan spell, Benjamin joined Northampton Town in January 2005 before moving on to Coventry City a month later with a contract to the end of the season.
Benjamin joined Peterborough United in July 2005 with a three-year contract but was made available for transfer in May 2007.
