Richards joined Barnet from Leyton Orient just days before the start of the 2000-01 campaign but injuries limited his appearances until October. He then produced some fine displays finding the net regularly until the supply of goals dried up in the new year.
An effective striker who is adept at holding the ball up, Richards moved to Southend United in July 2001 but his Roots Hall contract was cancelled by mutual consent in September 2002.
